About the artist
Designed by Bundajalung artist Holly Sanders, a proud, contemporary Aboriginal artist and teacher from the north coast of NSW, who is currently based on Yuin Country, south coast NSW. The colours and patterns utilised in her art are a reflection of her connection to Country and used to develop a modern interpretation of her Aboriginal culture. “I always look to Country – the land, the sky and the sea – and use these images, stories and memories to paint. I use my art to tell the story of my Country and ancestors because I want to be able to share and celebrate my culture in a contemporary way with everyone.” – Holly Sanders.

The story behind the design
“This artwork represents women on country, respect and appreciation for all the women in our lives and everything they do for us. Women on Country would have cultural roles to help each other to gather and prepare food, take care of the children, knowledge of bush medicines, how to care and survive on the land and would carry out special women ceremonies.”
